Mississauga United Soccer Club

A brief History.

In March of 2006 Mississauga United only existed in the mind and vision of Jakub Cietwierkowski (far left), and the willingness of all the players to be part of a team and play soccer.

Jakub, along with a few of his Polish compatriots approached Erin Mills Soccer Club to join their over 30's house league.  However, they required more players and asked Erin Mills for assistance. Over the next few weeks, through Erin Mills SC registration process, numerous individuals looking to play soccer were randomly assigned to Jakub's unnamed team.Soccer Players

Finally, and after a desperate search for a Goalkeeper, Jakub had his team.  With time running out, and with no consultation, Jakub named his team Mississauga United!  This team entered the Erin Mills senior league for over 30's.

The first few games showed the range in class, with a couple of comfortable victories against Pro Cim and a reality check loss to the Chargers.  Even more humiliating was a 4:1loss to Inter Select, and the first murmurings "of what have we gotten in to?" were heard.

However, a change in formation and tactics, along with several clean sheets in a row, moved Mississauga United in to second place with a slim chance of catching the leaders.   The final few games saw the bust up of the Nelson   with the rest of the team.   This only served to unite the team further and led to first place with the Chargers slipping at the last.  The form continued in to the semi-final with a commanding first half that allowed the our goalkeeper (Mariano), one unmemorable session as a striker!   Final score 5:1, and on to the final.

Surprisingly, the final matched us up with Inter Select, who beat the Chargers in over time.  After a nervous first half,  and a late break through goal from MVP Damian; Mississauga United settled down and ran out 3:1 winners, due ultimately to superior  technique and fitness.

So Jakub's team ultimately became champions and many friendships were made.  Now on to 2007, where we want to challenge in a more competitive league, but also have the chance to defend our title.  This has led us to this point where we are recruiting for more players so that we have the opportunity to run two teams.
